Year 2 Summer Term
Our topic this half term
Our theme for Literacy, Geography and Science work this term is 'Bugs and Slugs'.We will be finding out about minibeasts and making up funny poems about them. On Friday, 2nd July, we will be having a trip to Nell Bank.In RE we will focus on Islam and will be making Samosas.
Our Maths this term will be a consolidation of the years learning which includes work in all four number operations including problem solving skills. In addition, we will be having ' World Cup' mental maths challenge every day. Please help your child learn their 2, 5 and 10 times tables, by heart.
This term we will be continuing our ongoing assessments in Reading, Writing, Science and Maths. All children need to be punctual to start our lessons each day at 9.00am.
If you have any items of interest relating to our topic, we would love to have a look at them this half term.
Our PE days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays and this term we will be having our annual Sports Day.Please could you ensure that your child has a full PE kit in school for those days and that all items of clothing are clearly labelled - this makes a huge difference when we have 30 children changing together!.
Homework and Spellings will continue to be sent out on Fridays. Spelling Tests are every Friday. Please use our Look, Write, Cover, Check Spelling lists which are on the school VLE. A new addition to the VLE is the homework, just in case the homework is mislaid.
If you have any ideas, issues or concerns about your child, please see one of our team - our door is always open.
